BHC Securities Inc. of Philadelphia has named Lawrence E. Donato, 50, president. Formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer, he replaces William Spane, 61, who remains chairman and chief executive officer.
In addition, Charles B. Landreth, 51, was appointed senior vice president and director of sales, marketing and product development. He had been executive vice president and managing director of PNC Institutional Management Corp. in Philadelphia.
Cooke & Bieler Inc. in Philadelphia has added John C. van Roden Jr., 49, Mehual Trivedi, 27, and John Larson, 31, as principal, associate and manager of sales and services, respectively.
Mr. van Roden, who will focus on taxable business, was a senior vice president and chief financial officer with Lukens Inc. of Coatesville, Pa.
Mr. Trivedi, who will be responsible for investment research, is a recent graduate of the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he served as the president of the investment management club and a portfolio manager for its Fellows Fund, a student-run equity fund. Previously Mr. Larson was vice president of marketing at Penn Capital Management in Cherry Hill, N.J.
John Hancock Funds in Boston has named Laura J. Allen, 39, senior vice president and leader of the portfolio management team for its Special Equities Fund. She replaces Michael P. DiCarlo, who had been manager since 1988. Ms. Allen was previously a senior vice president and portfolio manager on the company’s small-capitalization growth team.
ND Holdings Inc., a mutual fund management and service company in Minot, N.D., has hired Nancy C. Scofield, 41, as controller. Ms. Scofield, previously controller at Phycor, a Minot health care company, replaces Douglas Miller, who left several months ago.
In addition, Heather Hennenfent, 22, and Kraig Klebe, 24, were hired as accountants for the company’s nine mutual funds in the Integrity Family of Funds and Ranson Managed Portfolios.
