Tutwiler follows Thain to Merrill

Merrill Lynch has named Margaret D. Tutwiler as its new head of global communications and public affairs.

Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. has named Margaret D. Tutwiler as its new head of global communications and public affairs, making her the second former NYSE Euronext Inc. executive to follow John Thain to Merrill.
Ms. Tutwiler, who is currently the executive vice president, global communications and government relations at NYSE Euronext, will leave the company Dec. 14.
She joined the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange in July 2004 and serves on the NYSE Euronext Management Committee.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Tutwiler was a Department of State spokesperson during President George H.W. Bush’s administration who also served as a U.S. ambassador to Morocco from 2001 to 2003.
Nelson Chai, the former executive vice president and chief financial officer of NYSE Euronext, was named as the new chief financial officer of Merrill Lynch last week (InvestmentNews, Dec. 4) .
