Abby Joseph Cohen, one of Wall Street’s most bullish analysts, was finally rewarded for her accurate market calls when Goldman Sachs Group LP made her a partner.

Ms. Cohen, 46, is best known for correctly predicting the continuation of the bull market through 1996 and 1997. Unlike many prognosticators, she stayed bullish through the free fall and remains so, despite the market’s recent gyrations.

Goldman had been widely criticized for denying Ms. Cohen membership in the firm at the last partnership meeting in 1996. The investment bank redeemed itself somewhat when it named 57 new partners this year in an effort to keep key employees after it kissed its plan to go public goodbye in late September. But it has a long way to go. Cohen became one of only 14 female partners at Goldman, not even 6% of the total 245.
