Soft-dollar guidance on horizon

Comments were due last month on the SEC’s proposed guidance for mutual funds’ use of so-called soft dollars.

Comments were due last month on the SEC’s proposed guidance for mutual funds’ use of so-called soft dollars. The proposal, issued in July, is directed at fund boards and their oversight of investment advisers as it pertains to advisers’ trades involving soft dollars. The SEC has said the guidance would impose no new requirements, but rather would provide a flexible framework for directors’ oversight of advisers’ trading activities.
