Carlyle brings ex-Schwab CFO on board

The Carlyle Group has hired Christopher V. Dodds, former chief financial officer of The Charles Schwab Corp., to advise the private-equity firm on investment opportunities.

The Carlyle Group has hired Christopher V. Dodds, former chief financial officer of The Charles Schwab Corp., to advise the private-equity firm on investment opportunities.
He will be joining Carlyle’s recently established financial services group, which focuses on investment opportunities in banking, insurance, specialty finance, asset management and capital markets.
The group, comprising 13 individuals, completed its first deal in August, a $75 million investment in Boston Private Financial Holdings Inc.
Mr. Dodds retired as the chief financial officer and executive vice president at Charles Schwab of San Francisco in May 2007.
During his 21 years at the company, his responsibilities included overseeing strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and financial planning and analysis.
The Washington-based Carlyle Group had $89.3 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
