The SEC last month held a round table to discuss mark-to-market accounting as part of the regulator’s study on the method’s effect on recent bank collapses. Authorized by the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, the study is examining the accounting standard’s effects on balance sheets and its impact on the quality of financial information available to investors, among other issues.
