Eric Schwartz elected chairman of FSI board
The Financial Services Institute Inc.’s board today unanimously elected Eric Schwartz chairman for 2009.
The Financial Services Institute Inc.’s board today unanimously elected Eric Schwartz chairman for 2009.
He is the founder, chairman and chief executive of Cambridge Investment Research Inc. of Fairfield, Iowa, and a founding director of the FSI.
Mr. Schwartz succeeds Brian Murphy, chairman of Woodbury (Minn.) Financial Services Inc., the independent broker-dealer for The Hartford (Conn.) Financial Services Group Inc.
He originally founded Cambridge’s predecessor broker-dealer in 1981 and was a member of the FSI’s founding board in 2004.
Mr. Schwartz is also registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. of New York and Washington as a general-securities registered representative, general-securities principal, municipal-securities principal, financial and operations limited principal and director participation programs limited principal.
Mari Buechner, president and chief executive of Coordinated Capital Securities Inc. of Madison, Wis., was elected vice chairman of the FSI.
In addition, Frank A. Tauches Jr., executive vice president and general counsel for American Portfolios Holdings Inc. of Holbrook, N.Y., was elected as a new director for 2009.
The Atlanta-based FSI is an advocacy organization for independent broker-dealers and independent financial advisers.
