Citi taps four independent directors
Citigroup Inc. today nominated a slate of four independent-director candidates to be voted on at its shareholder meeting April 21.
Citigroup Inc. today nominated a slate of four independent-director candidates to be voted on at its shareholder meeting April 21.
The candidates are Jerry A. Grundhofer, Michael E. O’Neill, Anthony M. Santomero and William S. Thompson Jr.
Mr. Grundofer hails from U.S. Bancorp, where he is the chairman emeritus and a retired chairman and chief executive of the Minneapolis-based bank. Prior to that, he was president and chief executive of Milwaukee-based Firstar Corp. and also held a post as vice chairman of BankAmerica Corp. in San Francisco, which is now Bank of America Corp. of Charlotte, N.C.
Mr. O’Neill is the retired chairman and chief executive of Honolulu-based Bank of Hawaii. Also an alumnus of BankAmerica, he had served as vice chairman and finance chief of BofA’s predecessor.
Mr. Santomero was most recently a senior adviser at McKinsey & Co. in New York and served as the ninth president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia from 2000 to 2006.
Finally, Mr. Thompson comes to Citigroup from Pacific Investment Management Co. LLC in Newport Beach, Calif., where he was chief executive until his retirement last year.
At the moment, New York-based Citigroup’s board has 15 directors, three of whom won’t stand for re-election and two others who will be at retirement age by the time of next month’s meeting. The other 10 directors are up for re-election.
