A coalition of financial planning industry groups is calling for a new regulatory board to oversee anyone who offers planning services.

A coalition of financial planning industry groups is calling for a new regulatory board to oversee anyone who offers planning services. The coalition, comprised of the Denver-based Financial Planning Association of Denver, the Washington-based Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., and the National Association of Professional Financial Advisors of Arlington Heights, Ill., recommends that Congress establish a professional board that would operate through the CFP Board. Its role in the regulatory landscape would be to oversee individuals, not firms.
