Millionaires break out the champagne as Spectrum index takes record leap

This gain, the third consecutive monthly improvement , returns the index to neutral territory and returns it to its highest level since December 2007, when it stood at 8.
Meanwhile, the Spectrem Affluent Investor Index, which measures the investment outlook of households with $500,000 or more in investible assets, rose 9 points in May to –12 from -21 in April, bringing the index to its highest level since February 2008, when it stood at –10.
“Millionaires’ investment optimism surged in May, recording the largest monthly increase since we began tracking it in February 2004,” George H. Walper, Jr., president of Chicago-based Spectrem Group, said in a statement.
The Spectrem Affluent Investor Index is based on 250 monthly interviews.
The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Index is based on a subset of the overall survey group.
