Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin asked the Suffolk County Superior Court in Boston yesterday to require Cohmad Securities Corp. to deliver records about its Massachusetts investors in regard to the Bernard Madoff scam.
The New York-based brokerage firm’s activities in Massachusetts have been under scrutiny by Mr. Galvin’s office, which alleged in earlier complaints that Cohmad served as a feeder fund for Bernard L. Madoff Investment Services LLC of New York.
Mr. Galvin began investigating the firm on behalf of hundreds of state residents who said they were introduced to Mr. Madoff by representatives of Cohmad Securities, which is partly owned by Mr. Madoff.
Mr. Madoff pleaded guilty to orchestrating a $65 billion Ponzi scheme.
With the filing, Mr. Galvin is seeking the records of the firm’s Massachusetts customers, including the fees they paid to Cohmad.
Martin Murphy, a partner at Foley Hoag LLP of Boston, who is representing Cohmad Securities, was not immediately available for comment.
