Baird hired 77 advisers in first half of year

Robert W. Baird & Co. of Milwaukee has continued to expand its wealth management business, setting an internal recruiting record by hiring 77 financial advisers in the first half of this year.

Baird has also opened four new private wealth management offices so far this year in Baltimore and Easton, Md., and in Sacramento and Grass Valley, Ca.

Last year Baird hired 59 new advisers for its wealth management business.

The firm’s private-wealth management business currently has 640 advisers and approximately $48 billion in assets under management.

In addition, the firm announced plans to open its first office in San Francisco.

In a statement, Michael Schroeder, director of private wealth management, cited the firm’s independence and employee-ownership as reasons for its ability to attract talent.
