Least recession-proof jobs
Most economists expect a recession in 2023, even if they disagree on the severity. Although every economic cycle is different, we looked to data from the Great Recession to see which jobs were the most "recession-proof."
To narrow it down, we assessed only higher-paying jobs, defined as those where the typical worker earned at least 25% more than the U.S. average. We also eliminated occupations in which hiring appeared to be countercyclical, in that the recession temporarily increased hiring in what was otherwise a job in long-term decline.
