Sarah O’Brien, the former managing editor of Maryland’s only daily business newspaper, has joined InvestmentNews as its second Washington correspondent.

She will cover regional brokerages, money managers and investment advisory firms from Philadelphia to Richmond, Va., focusing on the Washington-Baltimore market, the fourth-largest in the nation.

She will also augment coverage of the Securities and Exchange Commission, other key federal agencies and federal courts.

“This is part of an important expansion for us,” says InvestmentNews editor Keith Girard. “The move is in step with our rapid circulation growth and the importance of the region to our readers.”

Previously, Ms. O’Brien oversaw newsroom operations at the Daily Record in Baltimore. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Delaware and is a sustaining member of Phi Beta Kappa.
