The IRS plans to make recommendations to the Obama administration on how to bolster the ethical standards of paid tax preparers. IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman recently announced that by year’s end, his agency will make recommendations to the Treasury Department about possible regulatory changes to better oversee tax preparers. Currently, in most situations, tax preparers are not required to be licensed.
