A handful of federal agencies have collectively released a model privacy form that will provide financial institutions with a safe harbor. The model form meets the requirements outlined in the Financial Services Regulatory Relief Act of 2006, including that it be comprehensible to consumers, with a clear format and design; provide clear and conspicuous disclosures; and be succinct with an easily readable type font. Financial institutions that elect to use the form can rely on it as a safe harbor to provide disclosures under federal privacy rules.
