The SEC is scrutinizing the municipal bond market in an effort to improve its transparency for investors. In a speech delivered last month, Andrew “Buddy” Donohue, director of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management, said the agency plans to hold hearings across the country about the bond market and will then consider specific changes to laws, regulations or private-sector best practices to better protect municipal securities investors.
