Advisers in the Boston area have the opportunity to sweat for a good cause this month by participating in the second annual Invest in Others Charitable Foundation Run/Walk along Pleasure Bay in Boston on July 28.

This year, participants will run to benefit the Pine Street Inn, a homeless shelter that helps more than 1,000 men and women each day, and also offers job training and help with finding permanent housing. Founded in 1969, the Pine Street Inn is the largest resource for homeless men and women in New England. This fall, it will open a new facility in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston to serve 16 homeless veterans in the area.

The top three adviser finishers of the Invest in Others race, which circles Fort Independence, will also receive $1,500, $1,000 and $750, respectively, to be directed toward the charity of their choice.

The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation has been helping support the philanthropic interests of financial professionals by donating to many charities since 2006, including the American Heart Association, Habitat for Humanity and the United Way.

Last year’s race, which took place in San Diego, raised $30,000 on behalf of Second Chance, a local organization that helps provide job training, placement, affordable housing and mental health counseling to men and women in San Diego.
