A measure that would facilitate the use of covered bonds in the U.S. market, HR 940, was approved by the House Financial Services Committee in June. Here’s a related story. Another piece of legislation, HR 1082, that received a committee OK would undo a Dodd-Frank law requirement that advisers of private-equity funds register with the SEC as long as the firm carries leverage at less than a 2-to-1 ratio. Both bills are now heading for likely approval by the full House.
