Resource Real Estate of Philadelphia has hired Van Standke, 66, as managing director of business development.

He is responsible for furthering the firm’s relationship development initiatives within the independent-broker-dealer community.

Previously, Mr. Standke was head of the investment products department in Hartford, Conn., for Lincoln Financial Network of Philadelphia. There he was responsible for marketing, sales support and due diligence for investment products sold by the company, including broker-dealer offerings and alternative investments.

United Capital of San Francisco has hired Laura Chernova, 39, as a senior wealth adviser.

She is responsible for advising high-net-worth clients on their wealth management and planning needs.

Previously, Ms. Chernova managed a client base of 70 clients in San Francisco as a senior wealth adviser at StanCorp Investment Advisers of Portland, Ore.

Jefferies Group Inc. of New York has hired Caspar Bentick, 37, as a managing director; Susan Bonsell, 42, as a managing director in fixed-income sales; Sean George, 38, as a managing director and senior trader; and Sean Huang, 30, as a head of securities finance trading in Asia.

Mr. Bentick will lead the debt capital markets group that works with financial institutions. Previously, he was a managing director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch of New York, where he led the debt capital markets effort for depository institutions in the financial institutions group’s capital markets and financing group.

Based in Dallas, Ms. Bonsell will help build the company’s fixed-income sales and trading effort. Previously, she was a director in fixed-income sales in Dallas for Deutsche Bank AG of Frankfurt.

Mr. George will serve as a head of credit default swap trading, and a technology, media and telecommunications trader. Previously, he was a managing director and head of investment-grade credit default swaps and credit electronic trading at Deutsche Bank.

Based in Hong Kong, Mr. Huang is responsible for managing securities finance activities in Asia. Previously, he was a director and a senior trader at UBS AG of New York.

Barrier Advisors Inc. of Dallas has hired Harrison L. Price, 53, as senior managing director and president.

He is responsible for managing the strategic growth of Barrier Advisors and helping the company expand the breadth of its advisory service offerings.

Previously, Mr. Price was a managing director of the special-situations team in Dallas for BDO Capital Advisors of Costa Mesa, Calif.

Creative Marketing of Leawood, Kan., has hired Bernice Casey, 60, as senior underwriter and life-insurance-underwriting instructor for the life sales team.

She will review and underwrite cases in-house and will advise internal sales consultants and agents on shortening the processing time during the development of these cases. As an instructor, Ms. Casey will educate internal sales consultants, as well as affiliated agents and advisers, on how to position and package life insurance cases to increase placement.

Previously, she was a remote senior underwriting consultant based in Linwood, Kan., for John Hancock/Manulife Financial of Boston.

Wealth Management Solutions, a unit of Prudential Investments Inc. of Newark, N.J., has hired John Yackel, 41, as senior vice president, and director of sales and relationship management.

He is responsible for developing new relationships and leading the efforts to help existing client firms grow.

Previously, Mr. Yackel was managing director at Fortigent LLC of Rockville, Md. There he was responsible for driving business development and developing new relationships with institutions and financial advisers who serve ultrahigh-net-worth clients.

Altus Capital Partners Inc. of Westport, Conn., has hired Kim VanCleef, 32, as a vice president.

Based in Chicago, she will be involved in overall deal team activities, including sourcing, due diligence and portfolio management.

Previously, Ms. VanCleef was an assistant vice president at Dymas Capital Management of Chicago, where she was involved in portfolio investment management and the execution of new investments.
