* New York Life Insurance Co. has promoted Melvin J. Feinberg to senior vice president in the individual-life…

* New York Life Insurance Co. has promoted Melvin J. Feinberg to senior vice president in the individual-life department, from vice president and actuary.

Mr. Feinberg, 53, will be responsible for management, development and compliance for individual-life products. He came to New York Life 32 years ago as an actuarial trainee. By 1989, he had moved up to his most recent position.

* Deutsche Asset Management in New York has appointed Gary Cohen, 58, chief investment officer for the Americas. Based in New York, Mr. Cohen will be a member of the global investment committee and head the North American investment committee.

Mr. Cohen had a 28-year tenure with Citigroup Inc. in New York. He was chief investment officer and head of alternative-investment strategies with SSB Citi Asset Management Group since 1998.

* Manufacturers Bank in Los Angeles has appointed Charles D. Kenny, 55, president and chief operating officer. Mr. Kenny will direct the daily activities of the bank and supervise the management of all divisions. He has also become a member of the bank’s board of directors.

He came to Manufacturers Bank in 1996 and has been executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer.

* Kornitzer Capital Management in Shawnee Mission, Kan., has appointed five new investment professionals.

David Eshnaur, 41, and Patrick D. Cubbage, 38, have been named vice presidents and portfolio managers. Mr. Eshnaur will manage high-yield portfolios, as he did with Security Benefit Group in Topeka, Kan. Mr. Cubbage will be responsible for expanding the individual portfolio-management opportunities of the firm. He was a portfolio manager with Bank of America Private Bank in Kansas City, Mo.

Clay Brethour, James McBride and Paulette Schwerdt have been named vice presidents and research analysts.

Mr. Brethour, 32, will provide energy, pharmaceuticals and health-care industry research. He was an equity research analyst with Security Benefit.

Mr. McBride, 39, will provide research in the food and beverage industry; media and entertainment; marketing and advertising; technology; utilities and long-term care. He was with Agilent Technologies in Palo Alto, Calif.

Ms. Schwerdt, 40, will be responsible for expanding institutional money management opportunities. She will also provide research on real estate investment trusts and manufactured housing. She also was with Security Benefit.

* Dow Jones Indexes in New York has named Albert S. Neubert, 46, director of marketing and business development for its international operations. Mr. Neubert will be responsible for enhancing the visibility of Dow Jones Indexes to international users. He will oversee the global sales and business development staff.

Mr. Neubert most recently was a consultant in international marketing and product development for the Sydney Futures Exchange, Calvert Group Ltd., Information Management Network and Cantor Fitzgerald LP.

Before spending two years as a consultant, Mr. Neubert managed indexes for Standard & Poor’s in New York for 25 years. Mr. Neubert was a member of the S&P index committee and was responsible for the company’s global index business development.

* Sentra Securities Corp. and Spelman & Co. Inc. in San Diego have assigned general counsel Dennis A. Stubblefield, 50, the additional responsibilities of director of compliance. Mr. Stubblefield, who came aboard in September, will be responsible for managing all legal matters affecting the broker-dealers, which belong to the SunAmerica Financial Network. Mr. Stubblefield spent several years in the enforcement division of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

* Parker Global Strategies LLC in Stamford, Conn., has named Lorraine Walls to the newly created position of controller and head of compliance.

Ms. Walls, 31, will be responsible for corporate accounting and finance, regulatory compliance, operations processing and risk control.

Ms. Walls was with UBS Warburg LLC in Stamford.
