Raymond James Financial Inc. of St. Petersburg, Fla., has made three senior-management appointments.

Scott Curtis, 49, has been promoted to president of Raymond James Financial Services Inc. and managing director of its independent-contractor division, from senior vice president of the Raymond James & Associates Inc. private-client group. He is responsible for leading and building the independent-broker-dealer business.

Tash Elwyn, 40, has been promoted to president of Raymond James & Associates’ private-client business, from Atlantic divisional director. He is responsible for leading the employee broker-dealer unit.

Dennis Zank, 57, has been promoted to chief operating officer of the parent company, from president of Raymond James & Associates. He is responsible for providing leadership for firmwide strategic initiatives and building the business.

H.I.G. Capital LLC of Miami has hired David Blechman, 38, as a managing director of the firm’s leveraged-buyout practice.

Based in New York, he is resp-onsible for working with the lever-aged-buyout-fund team, which focuses on companies with $25 million to $200 million in enterprise value.

Previously, Mr. Blechman was a managing director for Tower Three Partners LLC of Greenwich, Conn.

The Connors Group Inc. of Jersey City, N.J., has hired James Lonergan, 50, as chief executive.

He is responsible for helping the company be a leading voice within the active-investor community.

Previously, Mr. Lonergan served as chief executive and president of Synaptic Digital Inc. of New York.

The Investment Program Association of Ellicott City, Md., has named Martel Day, president of Independence Realty Advisors LLC, chairman for 2012 and has added six new board members.

Mr. Day, 62, is based in Atlanta.

The other board members are Brian Conlon, 53, president of Inland Real Estate Investment Corp. of Oak Brook, Ill.; Mike Crimmins, 45, managing director and chief executive of KBS Capital Markets Group LLC of Newport Beach, Calif.; Steph Laflamme, 40, managing director of the financial services group of First Allied Securities Inc. of San Diego; Marc Nemer, 38, president and chief executive of Cole Real Estate Investments of Phoenix; Wayne Souza, 60, general counsel, executive vice president of law and corporate secretary with Walton International Group (USA) Inc. of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Gerald Stahlecker, 46, executive vice president for Franklin Square Capital Partners of Philadelphia.

Wedbush Securities of Los Angeles has hired Thomas H. Wyman Jr., 50, as a managing director of its private-shares group.

Based in San Francisco, he is responsible for providing research and trading of privately traded securities, with an emphasis on companies in the social-media industry.

Previously, Mr. Wyman was a portfolio manager for San Francisco Capital Management.

Russell Investments of Seattle has hired Michael Gallucci, 39, as regional director for U.S. structured products and sell-side firms.

Based in New York, he is responsible for helping Russell Indexes expand its U.S. structured products and data redistribution business for sell-side firms.

Previously, Mr. Gallucci was senior sales director for Standard & Poor’s index services of New York.

Mesirow Financial Holdings Inc. of Chicago has promoted William A. Maniscalco, 42, to senior managing director of its investment advisory group, from managing director.

Based in Highland Park, Ill., he is responsible for developing compre- hensive wealth and investment management pro-grams for affluent individuals, families, not-for-profit organizations and businesses.

Neuberger Berman Group LLC of New York has promoted Eli M. Salzmann, 47, to be manager of the Neuberger Berman Partners Fund, from managing director and portfolio manager.

He is responsible for managing more than $2.2 billion in assets for institutional and individual in-vestors, and will continue to manage the Neuberger Berman Large Cap Value Fund and the fundamental large-cap-value strategy for institutional clients.

First Capital of Boca Raton, Fla., has hired Najeeb Baqui, 29, as business development associate in its Houston office.

He is responsible for supporting marketing and business development eff-orts to meet the needs of growing middle-market companies throughout Louisiana and Texas.

Previously, Mr. Baqui was a private-equity associate for Rockspring Capital of Houston.

Yanni & Associates Investment Advisors LLC of Wexford, Pa., has hired Mark C. Yanni, 39, as an associate.

He is responsible for employee and intern management, human resources, budgetary decisions and providing assistance with marketing, compliance and client relations.

Previously, Mr. Yanni was a sales and customer service representative in Los Angeles for ING Direct of Wilmington, Del.

Securian Financial Group Inc. of St. Paul, Minn., has promoted Christopher M. Hilger, 47, to president, from executive vice president.

He is responsible for ensuring accountability for all the company’s insurance businesses, as well as its information services technology division.

Harborside Group of Baltimore has hired Ryan Brost, 30, as a mutual fund consultant.

He is responsible for specializing in mutual fund sales as part of its intermediary sales team.

Previously, Mr. Brost was a business development consultant in Denver with Jackson National Life Insurance Co. of Lansing, Mich.

The Financial Services Institute Inc. of Washington has announced the election of five directors to its board for 2012. 

They are Adam Antoniades, 47, chief executive of First Allied Holdings Inc. of San Diego; Rick Carlson, 46, senior financial adviser for Carlson Advisors LLC of Tomah, Wis.; Dean Harman, 43, owner of Harman Wealth Management of The Woodlands, Texas; Jim Livingston, 57, president and chief executive of National Planning Holdings Inc. of Santa Monica, Calif.; and John Moloney, 68, chairman and chief executive of Moloney Securities Co. Inc. of Manchester, Mo.
