LPL taps Merrill Lynch vet as marketing officer

Joan Khoury will replace interim marketing chief Dan Krems, who will return to his role as executive vice president of business engineering.

LPL Financial LLC said today that a former top Merrill Lynch executive had been named its new marketing officer.

Joan Khoury is replacing the firm’s interim marketing chief, Dan Krems. Ms. Khoury also will be a managing director with the firm.

Ms. Khoury “will be responsible for driving the company’s overall marketing strategy, as well as executing programs that will promote profitable growth and innovation, and broaden the strategic reach of LPL Financial,” according to a company statement.

Ms. Khoury most recently was senior vice president of strategic marketing at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she led a 90-member team of marketers who supported the wealth management business at Merrill, according to the press release.

She will be based in San Diego and report to Robert Moore, LPL’s chief financial officer. Mr. Krems will return to his role as executive vice president for business engineering.
