Wanted: 20 qualified volunteers to assist the CFP Board of Professional Review at both the inquiry and hearing panel stages of its disciplinary review process.

Those selected will review and render judgment on disciplinary cases that come before the CFP Board. They must serve for a minimum of 24 months but will be free to determine their own level of participation or availability.

Volunteers will earn one hour of continuing-education credit for each inquiry or hearing panel completed. This will count toward the CFP Board’s biennial 30-hour continuing education requirement. Candidates must be current CFP licensees with a minimum of five years financial planning experience (those with 10 years or more preferred) with no prior disciplinary records.

The Board of Professional Review is a seven-member board of CFP licensees that interprets and applies the CFP Board Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility. The board investigates, deliberates and takes appropriate action with respect to alleged violations of the Code by CFP licensees.

Later this year, the CFP Board will add two additional members to this Board to help manage the growing number of disciplinary cases being processed.
