A bill floated last month would require hedge fund advisers to register with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Introduced by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, S 1402 revives past congressional efforts to require such registration after a federal appeals court last year overturned an SEC regulation that would have required certain hedge funds to register with the agency.
