American International Group Inc. has reportedly made a deal to sell the New York building that houses its headquarters, along with another building in the Big Apple, according to a source.
The two buildings on the market are 70 Pine Street, the insurer’s headquarters, and 72 Wall Street.
The source didn’t disclose the buyer or the value of the sale.
Employees at the Pine Street building will probably stay there until the end of 2010, while those at the Wall Street location will remain until the end of this year and workers will be moved to offices at nearby 180 Maiden Lane, the source said.
Just a month ago, the embattled insurer sold its Tokyo headquarters to Osaka, Japan-based Nippon Life Insurance Co. for about $1.2 billion.
When contacted, AIG spokesman Mark Herr had no comment about the potential sales.
