Fidelity appoints chief operating officer of asset management unit

He joined the firm in 1986 and since 2001 has served as president of Geode Capital Management LLC, Fidelity’s Boston-based independent institutional investment subsidiary.
In his new role, Mr. Perold will oversee the daily management of the firm’s asset management groups, including Fidelity Management & Research Co., Pyramis Global Advisors and Strategic Advisers Inc., the firm said in a statement.
Since he joined Fidelity, he has served in a variety of positions including directing investment management information and analysis, and heading equity trading research and development and structured trading.
Mr. Perold has also directed integrated quantitative and technical research and served as a portfolio manager for several Fidelity index mutual funds.
Fidelity had assets of nearly $2.7 trillion in custody, including managed assets of $1.3 trillion, as of April 30.
