Financial Research Corp. LLC named Bruce Fador its chief executive officer.
Mercatus LLC acquired FRC, a Boston-based research and consulting firm, in November and has been searching for a chief executive since then.
Mr. Fador replaces Robert Hedges Jr. and Teresa Epperson, both managing partners at Mercatus, who have led FRC.
He had most recently been the chief operating officer at Decision Resources International Inc. of Waltham, Mass. Prior to that, he was chief executive at Jupiter, Fla.-based Weiss Ratings Inc., which is now Thestreet.com Ratings Inc., a unit of The Street.com Inc. of New York.
Mr. Fador said he will focus on the firm’s relationship with advisers.

“I think the opportunity for growth is more on the individual side and the consumer side of the business,” he said.
Also, Mr. Fador said he will concentrate on developing technological tools, custom products for clients and partnerships.

“We will be focused on retail distribution and consumer insights,” he said.

Mr. Fador also said he plans to focus more research on consumers.

“We will do more with fund flows and trends and develop more consumer insights for clients,” he said. “We’ll look at what’s hot.”

The firm will continue to serve its client base which includes asset managers and financial advisers. But advisers are likely to present more growth opportunities on the short-term, Mr. Fador said.

“We will be looking to expand into the financial advisory community,” he said.

Prior to his work at Weiss Ratings, Mr. Fador was the chief executive at WorldStreet Corp. of Boston, a software solutions firm.
