Phoenix Cos. taps Christopher Wilkos as CIO

The Phoenix Cos. Inc. of Hartford, Conn., announced today the promotion of Christopher Wilkos to executive vice president and chief investment officer.

The Phoenix Cos. Inc. of Hartford, Conn., announced today the promotion of Christopher Wilkos to executive vice president and chief investment officer.

The appointment is effective immediately.

He replaces James D. Wehr, who served as chief investment officer until he was promoted to president and chief executive last month.

Mr. Wilkos joined Phoenix in 1997 as director of corporate portfolio management.

He was named vice president in 1998 and senior vice president in 2001.

Prior to joining Phoenix, Mr. Wilkos served as an investment officer and portfolio manager at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company in Hartford, Conn.

The Phoenix Cos. had total assets of $24.8 billion as March 31.

Of that, Mr. Wilkos will oversee approximately $13.4 billion in the general account investment portfolio.
