Aite Group LLC is increasing its focus on wealth management and, to that end, has promoted Alois Pirker to research director to lead the wealth management practice, the Boston-based firm announced today.

Formerly a senior analyst with the firm, he will maintain his focus on the registered investment adviser, financial planning, separately managed account and adviser-focused platforms and tools, the independent-research and advisory firm said in a statement.

“The current markets hold an unprecedented level of opportunities and threats for players in the wealth management industry,” Mr. Pirker said in the statement.

“As the cards in the wealth management game continue to be reshuffled, firms that fully understand the changes taking place in the market — and adapt their unique selling propositions accordingly — will find great opportunities to gain market share,” he said.

Mr. Pirker has been with Aite for the last four years. Prior to that, he was an associate director of investment solutions in London at UBS Wealth Management, a division of UBS AG of Zurich, Switzerland.
