AIG unit AIU makes executive changes

Ralph Mucerino, senior vice president of AIG and president of AIG Global Marine & Energy, will additionally assume the role of chief operating officer of New York-based AIU.

American International Underwriters, the international property/casualty insurance unit of American International Group Inc., announced several executive appointments.

Ralph Mucerino, senior vice president of AIG and president of AIG Global Marine & Energy, will additionally assume the role of chief operating officer of New York-based AIU.

Robert Thomas, an executive vp of AIG and most recently executive vp of the corporate accounts practice for AIU, will become president of AIU’s commercial lines division.

Julio Portalatin — senior vp of AIG, president of AIG Europe and president of AIU’s continental European region — has been appointed to the additional role of chief executive officer of the European region.

Lex Baugh — vice president of AIG, managing director of AIG U.K. Ltd. and regional president of Foreign General’s U.K./Ireland division — has also been appointed to the additional post of CEO of AIG U.K. Ltd.
