Americans fear they’ll never retire, survey finds

Roughly one out of every three individuals believes that they'll never be able to stop working, according to a survey released by the Washington-based AARP.

Roughly one out of every three individuals believes that they’ll never be able to stop working, according to a survey released by the Washington-based AARP.
With roughly $3.5 trillion in retirement assets wiped out over the last 18 months, a new study by the AARP found — not surprisingly — that Americans have become increasingly pessimistic about their prospects for retirement.
Among those individuals who indicated that they still may be able to retire at some point, roughly 46% noted that it’s unlikely they’ll be financially secure throughout their entire retirement periods.
The AARP canvassed 1,035 people over the age of 25 between February 27 and March 9 for the survey.
