A bill introduced last month would create a commission to study the hedge fund and private equity industries. Introduced by Rep. John Larson, D-Conn., HR 3417 would create a 10-member panel that would explore the tax treatment of those funds, their economic impact and whether better regulations are needed to govern such funds. The bill was referred to the Ways and Means Committee.
