BofA chief just says no to bonus

Bank of America Corp. chief executive and chairman Kenneth Lewis is recommending that he and his leadership team forgo bonuses for last year, The Wall Street Journal reported today, citing an internal memo.

Other non-executive employees at Charlotte, N.C.-based Bank of America will most likely receive meager 2008 bonuses, according to the memo, the newspaper reported.
Mr. Lewis’ recommendation needs to be approved by Bank of America’s board.
A company spokesman didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
