Brian Murphy tapped as FSI chairman

Mr. Murphy, the chairman of Woodbury Financial Services, takes over for John Simmers, chief of ING Advisors Network Inc.

The Financial Services Institute of Atlanta has tapped Brian Murphy to serve as chairman of the board for 2008.
Mr. Murphy, the chairman of Woodbury Financial Services Inc. of Woodbury, Minn., takes over for John Simmers, the CEO of ING Advisors Network Inc.
The FSI’s board of directors has also chosen Eric Schwartz as vice-chairman.
Mr. Schwartz is chairman and CEO of Cambridge Investment Research Inc. of Fairfield, Iowa, and a founding director of the FSI.
The FSI board has also selected four new directors, with terms beginning this month.
They are: Michael Bewley, vice chairman and CEO of Wall Street Financial Group of Fairport, New York; William E. Dwyer III, managing director and president of LPL Independent Advisor Services of Boston; Michael J. Mungenast, president and CEO of ProEquities Inc. of Birmingham, Ala.; and Mary Sterk, president of Sterk Financial Services in Sioux City, Iowa.
The FSI is an advocacy group for independent broker-dealers and independent reps and advisers.
