Companion bills on Capitol Hill would make permanent a temporary tax-code provision that lets certain taxpayers make tax-free gifts to charities from their IRAs.
Companion bills on Capitol Hill would make permanent a temporary tax-code provision that lets certain taxpayers make tax-free gifts to charities from their IRAs. Among other changes, S 819 and HR 1419 also would increase the amount that individuals can donate. Currently, taxpayers age 70½ and older can make direct gifts from their IRAs through 2007.
