Citigroup installs U.S. consumer biz chief

Terri Dial, who would replace Steven Freibergm is currently in charge of Lloyds TSB Group's UK retail-banking unit.

Citigroup has hired an outsider to manage their company’s U.S. based consumer business, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Terri Dial would replace Steven Freiberg, who held the job since 2006.
Ms. Dial is currently in charge of Lloyds TSB Group’s UK retail-banking unit.
Mr. Freiberg will now run Citi’s credit-card business worldwide.
This new appointment is the latest in a series of shakeups by chief executive Vikram Pandit.
Ms. Dial’s appointment is allegedly the first hire in a larger restructure Citigroup’s leadership.
Under the plan, Citigroup is expected to split up most of its units geographically, instead of by business line, reported the Journal.
Citigroup is expected to create Asian and European organizations to co-ordinate their consumer and corporate banking businesses in those areas, reported the Journal.
The other participants will be revealed next week, according to the Journal.
A spokesman for Citigroup would neither confirm nor deny the hire.
Citigroup’s U.S. retail banking and finance sector has suffered as more and more of its customers fall behind on their loan payments.
