Fearing low turnout, FPA cuts conference fee
The Financial Planning Association has lowered the registration fee for one of its upcoming conferences in light of the downturn in the economy.
The fee for its March 9-10 Business Solutions Conference in Chicago was reduced to $225, from $825, for members, and to $550, from $1,125, for non-members.
The association wanted to make it easier for people to attend, as their businesses might be suffering because of the economy, said spokeswoman Mattea Fleischner.
Last year, the conference attracted a record number of 272 attendees. This year, the FPA expects about 200 attendees, she said.
The Denver-based association has more than 29,500 members.
