Giuliani Capital Advisors LLC, an affiliate of the Rudolph W. Giuliani-founded Giuliani Partners LLC, is selling its business and assets to Macquarie Group, as the former New York mayor makes plans to campaign for the presidency of the United States.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The New York boutique investment banking firm, which specializes in providing restructuring and mergers and acquisitions advisory services, “is a highly complementary addition to our North American investment banking business,” Murray Bleach, head of Macquarie’s Investment Banking Group in North America and co-chief executive of Macquarie Securities (USA) Inc. said in a statement.
“GCA provides Macquarie with an opportunity to build upon and expand our existing U.S. capabilities, particularly in corporate restructuring transactions,” he said.
Under the terms of the agreement, following a transition period GCA’s platform and employees will become part of Macquarie Securities (USA) Inc., a US-registered broker-dealer.
The deal will increase Macquarie’s investment banking group staff in North America from approximately 350 to just over 450.
Macquarie expects to close the transaction in April 2007.
