Merrill Lynch adds five ESG portfolios to platform

The ETF-based, firm-managed choices offer a range of risk profiles.

Merrill Lynch has launched five ETF-based portfolios that incorporate environmental, social and governance factors. Each is designed to meet investor profiles ranging from conservative to aggressive, the firm said in a release.

The portfolios, designed by Merrill Lynch’s chief investment office and labeled CIO Core Impact Portfolios, are designed to produce “positive societal outcomes without sacrificing financial returns,” the firm said.

They will be available through Merrill Lynch advisers and Merrill Edge.

With approximately 90% of millennials either participating in ESG strategies or wanting to, the age group has the highest proportion of assets, of all investors, deployed in such strategies and also has the greatest interest in adding exposure to the strategies, said Keith Banks, head of the CIO and the Investment Solutions Group for Merrill Lynch and U.S. Trust.
