A handful of trade groups have asked the SEC to increase its oversight of money market funds. The rule petition, which asks the SEC to require money market funds to file monthly portfolio reports, was filed by the Financial Planning Association of Denver, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors of Arlington Heights, Ill., Fund Democracy Inc. of Oxford, Miss., Consumer Action of San Francisco, and the AFL-CIO and Consumer Federation of America of Washington.
