* Allied Investment Advisors Inc. in Baltimore, a subsidiary of Allfirst Bank, has appointed Michael Odlum, 49, president and chief operating officer. Mr. Odlum was a principal with the Vanguard Group in Malvern, Pa., where he was chairman of the trust investment committee and senior officer of Vanguard Advisers Inc. and Vanguard Fiduciary Trust Co. He also led Vanguard’s initial effort to introduce investment advice to the Internet and spearheaded the firm’s personal advisory service, providing investment advice and management to wealthy individuals and institutional investors. Most recently, he worked in the institutional division’s national sales group.

* The New York Stock Exchange has promoted Michael H. Cohen, Susan E. Light, Rex W. Mixon, Angela A. Posillico, Daniel Saporito and Donald van Weezel to vice presidents, from managing directors.

Mr. Cohen, 38, will be responsible for the exchange’s advertising, corporate identity program, Interactive Education Center and investor education. Before joining the exchange in 1997, he held various advertising and marketing positions with a number of firms.

Ms. Light, 43, will manage the enforcement division’s case management system. Before joining the exchange in 1988, she was an assistant district attorney in the Bronx.

Mr. Mixon, 56, will be responsible for investigation and prosecution of NYSE and Securities and Exchange Commission rules and regulations. He will manage a staff of more than 25 litigators and investigation analysts. Before joining the exchange in 1984, Mr. Mixon was an associate attorney at Rogers & Wells in New York.

Ms. Posillico, 48, will plan and develop the exchange’s regulatory and administrative systems. Before joining the exchange in 1986, she was an accounting analyst at Marathon Oil Co. in Houston.

Mr. Saporito, 53, will be responsible for the direction of a systemic program of investigation into possible rule violations detected through surveillance programs, market analyses and referrals by trading-floor officials, members, other self-regulatory organizations and the SEC. He has been with the exchange since 1969.

Mr. van Weezel, 54, will be responsible for managing the credit regulation, rule development and interpretation, testing standards and continuing-education functions in the member firm regulation division. Mr. van Weezel has been with the exchange since 1971.

* Loomis Sayles & Co. LP in Boston has named Suzanne Stefany, 35, vice president, and basic materials and transportation analyst in its equity research group. She will join the team of equity analysts who monitor more than 800 stocks. Ms. Stefany will be responsible for researching companies related to the chemical, paper, airline and freight industries.

She was a managing director and senior equity analyst in New York for Invesco Funds.

* Greenwich Capital Markets in Connecticut has named Matthew Aliapoulios, 37, senior vice president of swaptions. Mr. Aliapoulios spent four years with Bank of America as a principal trader in swaptions in Chicago.

* ProTrader Group LP in Austin, Texas, has named Craig Howard, 38, its managing director of sales and marketing, to lead its institutional sales and support organization. He will be leading the ProTrader effort to secure customers among institutions and hedge funds.

Mr. Howard recently relocated to ProTrader’s headquarters in Austin after spending six years in San Jose, Calif., as financial institutional sales manager of Federated Funds.
