Prudential Insurance Co. of America has hired Kaye Williams, 36, director of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Legislative Affairs since 1996, as a government relations consultant in its Washington office.
From 1993 to 1996, she was assistant general counsel and assistant vice president at the Securities Industry Association. She had worked at the SEC previously, as a staff attorney in the Division of Enforcement from 1988 until 1990, and as legal counsel to Richard Roberts, then a commissioner, from 1990 until 1993.
Evergreen Funds in Charlotte, N.C., has promoted Ann Marie Becker to managing director of Evergreen Service Co., its shareholder service unit. She most recently served as senior vice president of business development for the fund group.
Financial Information Service, a subsidiary of Financial Communications Co., in New York has appointed Patrick A. di Napoli, 55, vice president of third-party redistribution in its new financial information services division. He had been vice president of sales at Fitch IBCA in New York.
State Street Corp. of Boston has hired W. Andrew Fry, 36, as president and chief executive officer of its Kansas City, Mo.- based Investors Fiduciary Trust Co. subsidiary. He had been president and chief operating officer of Chase Manhattan Global Funds Service Co. and succeeds Thomas J. McCrossan, a State Street senior vice president, who has relocated to the parent firm’s headquarters.
IFC Holdings Inc. in Tampa, Fla., has hired Debra Williamson, 39, as chief compliance officer. She had held a similar post at Signet Financial services in Virginia.
PaineWebber Inc. in New York has named Lee C. Gatewood managing director and global head of research sales. He most recently served as managing director for institutional equity sales at Lehman Brothers in New York.
Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States in New York has named vice president Robin K. Murray, 43, to head investment management for its 401(k) and pension plans. She has also been named a trustee of both and will oversee the company’s Long-Term-Disability and Health Care trusts. She began with the company in 1986 and joined the office of the chief investment officer in 1997. Ms. Murray replaces Peter LiPuma, who recently retired.
Founders Asset Management LLC in Denver has hired John Mezger, 44, as vice president and director
of private advisory services in its institutional marketing department. He comes from Janus Capital Corp.
Fidelity Investments in Boston has appointed senior vice president Donald C. Holborn, 48, national sales manager for the new independent broker-dealer division. He most recently headed the alternative distribution services division.
John Hancock Funds has named three new investment team members. Sylvester Marquardt becomes director of equity research and Scott Mayo an assistant portfolio manager in Boston. Clayton Bryan has been hired as an analyst at NM Capital Management, a subsidiary in Albuquerque.
Mr. Marquardt, 44, had been a global portfolio manager at Wellington Management. Mr. Mayo, 26, was an equity research associate for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Mr. Bryan, 30, had worked in a similar capacity at Montgomery Asset Management.
