A Senate bill recently was introduced as a companion to HR 25, which would abolish the IRS and establish a national sales tax. Like the House bill, S 1025 also would repeal the estate tax, among other provisions. Sponsored by Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., S 1025 was referred to the Finance Committee. The House bill, which now has 60 co-sponsors, is in the Ways and Means Committee. For details of either measure, visit http://thomas.loc.gov
