Foundation Resource Management Inc. has hired Tom Hill, 56, as a senior portfolio manager.

Foundation Resource Management Inc. has hired Tom Hill, 56, as a senior portfolio manager.

His responsibilities will include the formation of an additional portfolio management team, as well as strategic planning and business development.

Previously, Mr. Hill was first vice president of investments at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc., where he served individual and institutional clients in planning and asset management.

The American Council of Life Insurers has elected C. Robert Henrikson as its 2010 chairman.

He, along with the council’s board, will be responsible for setting policy and guiding the actions of the association.

Mr. Henrikson is chairman, president and chief executive of MetLife Inc.

Evercore Wealth Management LLC has hired Tim Evnin, 44, as an equity portfolio manager.

He also was named a partner and will lead Evercore’s stock selection process.

Previously, Mr. Evnin was a managing director at U.S. Trust Corp., and after its acquisition by Bank of America Corp., as a senior equity portfolio manager at Columbia Management Group. There he was a key member of a group that managed more than $14 billion in assets.

Zero Alpha Group, an international network of independent-adviser firms, has elected Kimberly Sterling, 55, as its president for the next two years.

She will work directly with vendors and industry consultants in areas of concern to advisers, including industry changes, technology and best practices.

Ms. Sterling is the president of Resource Consulting Group Inc.

The Advisor Group Inc. has hired Kevin Danaher, 43, as senior vice president for marketing communications.

He will be responsible for all aspects of marketing communications for the company and will work closely with its business leaders in recruiting, advertising, marketing and internal communications.

Previously, Mr. Danaher was a senior vice president of corporate communications at J. & W. Seligman & Co., where he was responsible for marketing communications for the firm’s mutual fund and institutional businesses, internal communications and public relations.

Nelson Capital Management LLC has hired Lisa Leff and Blaine Townsend as senior portfolio managers.

They will help lead Nelson’s sustainable and social investment strategies for separately managed accounts.

Previously, Ms. Leff, 46, served as a portfolio manager and branch manager of Trillium Asset Management Corp. There, she managed socially conscious and sustainable portfolios for high-net-worth individuals and mission-based institutions, and was involved in the firm’s corporate- engagement, community investing and sustainability research efforts.

Mr. Townsend, 43, also joins Nelson from Trillium, where he was a portfolio manager and a branch manager. He managed more than $200 million in separately managed accounts and researched and wrote about a variety of issues related to corporate social responsibility.

Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. has hired Denise Wypiszenski, 39, as managing director and chief operating officer of its private-wealth-management group.

She will support the firm’s financial advisers and branch offices as well as advancing recruitment and adviser training.

Previously, Ms. Wypiszenski was a director and chief operating officer of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC’s Western division, which consisted of more than 230 Morgan Stanley and Smith Barney branch locations with 4,450 advisers.

Shakespeare Wealth Management Inc. has hired Mark Ziety, 31, as a financial adviser.

He will prepare clients’ financial plans, helping with the preparation and follow-up for client meetings, and work with clients’ other advisers to ensure top results.

Previously, Mr. Ziety was a financial planner at Paladin Partners LLC, where he analyzed and wrote financial plans for the firm’s new and existing clients.

Broadmark Asset Management LLC has named Ricardo L. Cortez, 59, president of global distribution.

He will oversee the global development of Broadmark’s investment products with respect to direct sales and strategic distribution partnerships with financial institutions.

Previously, Mr. Cortez was president of the private-client group at Torrey Associates LLC, where he created strategic partnerships with large financial institutions to ensure that the firm’s funds were included on their distribution platforms.

Moneta Group Investment Advisors LLC has hired William A. Hornbarger, 47, as chief market strategist.

He will be responsible for investment guidance, asset allocation, securities research and analysis.

Previously, Mr. Hornbarger was the chief fixed-income strategist at Wells Fargo Advisors LLC, where he was a member of the investment strategy committee, which is responsible for formulating the firm’s cyclical, strategic and tactical asset allocations.

Prima Capital Holding Inc. has hired Craig Behnke, 40, as a senior investment analyst.

He will select and monitor investment strategies in the large-cap-growth and large-cap-value asset classes, including separately managed accounts, mutual funds and exchange-traded funds.

Previously, he worked as a managing member at Lexicord Capital LLC, where his responsibilities included managing Lexicord Fund LP, a micro- and small-cap-equity investment fund.

Altegris Investments Inc. has hired Ken McGuire, 51, as chief operating officer.

He will oversee the expansion of the APM Funds.

Previously, Mr. McGuire was a managing director of product management for single-manager hedge funds at Bank of New York Mellon Corp. There, he led a team that enhanced the feature set and scalability of the firm’s technology platform.

Lenox Advisors Inc. has hired Brian Kaplan, 28, as an associate.

His responsibilities will include working with corporate and high-net-worth individual clients, specializing in comprehensive estate, insurance and wealth management strategies.

Previously, Mr. Kaplan worked as an associate for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., where he provided needs-based analysis and financial solutions for clients.

Robert W. Baird & Co. has added Jon S. Bolton, E. Lee Cain, Stephen Rowell, Jeff Trollinger and C. Scott Wray to its wealth management office in Winston-Salem, N.C., its first in the state.

They will develop customized financial strategies that address clients’ key concerns, including financial planning, asset allocation, tax management and wealth transfers.

Previously, Mr. Bolton, 58, Mr. Cain, 81, Mr. Rowell, 58 and Mr. Wray, 44, worked as a team of financial advisers for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC. Their responsibilities included providing comprehensive wealth management services to clients.

Mr. Trollinger, 42, previously served as an adviser and certified financial planner for AIG VALIC/AIG Retirement, a subsidiary of the Variable Annuity Life Insurance Company. He administered retirement plans for North Carolina Baptist Hospital as well as providing financial advice and service to clients.

Robert O’Braitis, Jason Pitts and the Lansdowne Private Wealth Management Group have joined Axa Advisors LLC as a firm in Axa’s paramount planning group.

Mr. O’Braitis, 41, is the founder and president of Lansdowne. He is the firm’s chief investment strategist and heads its research team.

In addition, Mr. O’Braitis is responsible for Lansdowne’s institutional business development and strategic planning for corporate-executive and ultrahigh-net-worth clients.

Mr. Pitts, 39, is the executive vice president and managing partner of Lansdowne. He manages the daily activities of the firm, oversees client service and helps develop wealth and risk management strategies for individuals, families and business owners.
