Sentinel Investments has hired Charles R. Shaw, 43, as senior vice president and national marketing director.

He will be responsible for leading the firm’s efforts to brand and market its adviser-sold offerings.

Previously, Mr. Shaw served as head of product marketing and equity product management at Legg Mason U.S. Distribution, a business of Legg Mason Inc. There, he was responsible for enhancing the firm’s competitive positioning within specific sales channels and for working with its independent investment subsidiaries to establish the product- and investment- level story for the distribution organization.

Marcum Financial Services LLC, which is affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services Inc., has hired Steven D. Brett, 45, as president.

There, he will be responsible for offering clients tailored investment services to help them meet their financial objectives and build their wealth.

Previously, Mr. Brett was a lead financial adviser with the global private client group at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. and was a member of its special-needs network of advisers. In that role, he helped families preserve the financial security of a family member with a disability.

Curian Capital LLC has promoted Derek Zachmann, 37, to vice president of corporate development, from assistant vice president of corporate development.

He will oversee a team that provides support to broker-dealers that are licensed to use Curian’s investment platform, as well as develop strategic programs designed to advance the firm’s primary account relationships.

Security Global Investors, the investment advisory arm of Security Benefit Corp., has hired Jason Long, 33, as senior research analyst, specializing in the financial sector.

Previously, he was a partner at Carmel Capital Partners LLC, where he was responsible for research and analysis for a long/short equity hedge fund.

Investment Centers of America Inc. has hired Tucker Muhrer, 53, as vice president of new business de-velopment.

He will be responsible for marketing the firm’s business capabilities to financial institutions and independent advisers.

Previously, Mr. Muhrer was senior vice president of business development at Fintegra Financial Services LLC and was a member of the firm’s founding management team.

Jackson National Life Insurance Co. has promoted J. Mark Clark and Laura Prieskorn to senior executive-level positions.

The company has named Mr. Clark, 49, senior vice president and chief information officer, responsible for all systems and programming departments that support Jackson National Life and its subsidiaries.

Previously, he was vice president of policy administration systems.

Jackson National Life has named Ms. Prieskorn, 41, senior vice president and chief administrative officer.

She will oversee all departments and functions within the company’s operational areas, including new business, policyholder services, broker management, claims and the telephone services center, as well as the company’s relationship management and business analytics groups.

Previously, Ms. Prieskorn was vice president of Jackson National Life’s customer service center, which manages customer inquiries and requests for all product lines.

Newedge has hired John Fay, 44, as senior managing director and head of the Americas region.

He will be responsible for expanding and strengthening Newedge’s business lines in the area as well as overseeing its regional performance, local risk, compliance and regulatory issues.

Previously, Mr. Fay was co-chief executive and co-president of Instinet Group LLC, where he helped develop the firm as both a global institutional brokerage and an electronic communications network.
