ACR-Alpine Capital Research has hired Darryl S. Grayson, 48, as chief operating officer and national marketing director.

ACR-Alpine Capital Research has hired Darryl S. Grayson, 48, as chief operating officer and national marketing director.

He will oversee the firm’s marketing and sales efforts to the financial-intermediary and institutional channels, and will expand its distribution relationships with national and regional brokerage firms, independent financial advisers and registered investment advisers.

Previously, Mr. Grayson was the director of external distribution at Wilmington Trust Co., where he led the asset management division.

Genworth Financial Asset Management Inc. has promoted Christian F. Hviid, 32, to chief market strategist, from director of asset allocation.

He will be responsible for the evaluation of structural and cyclical drivers of global economic activity and capital markets behavior, and will provide portfolio implementation guidance.

DWS Investments, the U.S. retail unit of Deutsche Bank AG’s global asset management division, has hired Scott Brooks, 43, as a director of third-party-insurance national accounts.

He is responsible for managing client relationships with insurance companies and subadvised mutual fund firms.

Previously, Mr. Brooks was a vice president at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he helped the fund management and global real-asset divisions build their defined- contribution, investment-only distribution platforms.

Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co. has hired Nick Fournaris and Rebecca N. Dunne.

Mr. Fournaris, 40, has been named regional director of the Southeastern region for the company’s Independence Financial Network. He will ensure that producers in that region receive field leadership products, marketing concepts and service required to build their business. Previously, he was field vice president/wholesaler for Pacific Life Insurance Co.’s Southeastern region, where he focused on expanding life insurance sales with institutional advisers and independent-broker-dealer representatives.

Ms. Dunne, 53, has been named vice president of Penn Mutual’s career agency system and will focus on sales management development.

Previously, she was vice president and channel director for Prudential Financial Inc., where she led the sales and account management operations and oversaw both the agency and bank channels.

Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. has hired Shawn R. McNinch, 38, as global exchange-traded-funds product and sales head.

He is responsible for overseeing ETF product strategy, relationship management and new-business development.

Previously, Mr. McNinch worked at Barclays Global In-vestors, where he was a senior principal within the iShares/ETFs product strategy group.

Greentech Capital Advisors LLC has hired Heather L. Smith, 40, as partner and head of private placements.

She is responsible for leading the structuring, marketing and negotiation of private-equity and debt placements.

Previously, Ms. Smith was the head of structured private placements at Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., where she raised equity and mezzanine capital for domestic and international private companies.

Hirtle Callaghan & Co. has hired Jamie R. Johnson, 50, as director of private equity.

He will oversee the firm’s private-equity investment activity and will serve as a liaison to the firm’s investment officers, supporting existing client relationships and new-business initiatives.

Previously, Mr. Johnson served as a managing director of Paul Capital Investments, a fund of funds, where he extended the firm’s fund-of-venture-capital-funds activity into the buyout market.

NewOak Capital LLC has hired Donald H. Layton, 58, as a senior adviser and co-chairman of its investment committee.

He will take a lead role in developing the firm’s private-equity -vehicle for bank recapitalization investments, assisting in the identification and full evaluation of investment opportunities.

Mr. Layton will also provide continuing advice regarding strategic and operational improvements for the banks in the firm’s investment portfolio.

Previously, he was a vice chairman and an executive committee member at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
