Cambridge Investment Research Inc. of Fairfield, Iowa, has hired Barry Schmidt, 49, as a vice president and Jeff Vivacqua, 42, as first vice president

Cambridge Investment Research Inc. of Fairfield, Iowa, has hired Barry Schmidt, 49, as a vice president and Jeff Vivacqua, 42, as first vice president.

Mr. Schmidt will lead a team of practice management consultants focused on the development and success of independent representatives and financial advisers, and their independent businesses. Previously, he was a managing director in Los Angeles for Advisory Data Solutions LLC of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.

Mr. Vivacqua will manage all aspects of Cambridge’s Continuity Partners enterprise and will focus on helping reps and advisers protect their clients’ investment relationships. Previously, he was vice president of advisory services/business development at Mutual Service Corp. of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Egon Zehnder International Inc. of New York has hired John F. Knapp, 40, as head of its New England asset management practice and as a core member of the firm’s U.S. financial services team.

Based in Boston, he is responsible for executive search and management appraisals for his industry sector. Mr. Knapp will build and expand the firm’s executive-recruiting business in the asset management sector in the Northeast, focusing on, but not limited to, investment, private-equity, broker-dealer and custodial firms.

Previously, he was a vice president of wealth management solutions at Fidelity Investments of Boston.

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Springfield has hired Timothy W. Powers, 44, as leader of its general agency, Platinum Wealth Management of Madison, Wis.

Previously, he was a social worker with the Dane County Department of Human Services, based in Madison.

Walton International Group (USA) Inc. of Scottsdale, Ariz., has hired Tyler Green, 35, as vice president of broker-dealer due diligence and new-product development.

He is responsible for overseeing due-diligence obligations of the business development team regarding product development.

Previously, Mr. Green was vice president of operations and due diligence in Scottsdale for Cole Real Estate Investments of Phoenix.

Northern Trust Corp. of Chicago has promoted Peter Cherecwich, 46, to head of Global Fund Services, the business that delivers fund administration, investment operations outsourcing and asset-servicing solutions to investment management firms across the globe.

He will continue as chief operating officer.

In addition, Northern Trust has named Toby Glaysher, 42, head of Global Fund Services in London for Ireland, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom. Previously, he was head of Global Fund Services U.K.

Northern Trust has also promoted Dan Houlihan, 44, to head Global Fund Services for the Americas in Chicago. Previously, he was global head of product and strategy for middle-office outsourcing.
