Yet another bill aiming to rein in the effect of the alternative minimum tax recently was introduced. HR 1366, sponsored by Rep. Phil English, R-Pa., with the backing of 21 co-sponsors, would repeal the AMT on individuals. Similar bills include S 55, which also would abolish the tax; HR 1112, which would extend relief from the AMT for 2007; and S 102, which would extend and expand relief from the AMT and repeal the 2005 extension of lower rates for capital gains and dividends for 2009 and 2010.
