REGULATION: SEC pursuing reform agenda

SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro said last month that her agency might urge Congress both to require registration of hedge funds and to combine oversight of advisers and broker-dealers.

SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro said last month that her agency might urge Congress both to require registration of hedge funds and to combine oversight of advisers and broker-dealers. Testifying before the Senate Banking Committee, Ms. Schapiro also said the SEC plans to propose rules that would bolster shareholders’ ability to nominate board members to public companies.
